Kitchen Assistant

Here at the Red Lion in Market Drayton, we pride ourselves on our Flagship Taphouse status after we built our fourth brewery on the doorstep of the original Joule’s pub back in 2010, you can’t get any more local than that!

As we continue to grow and develop, our General Manager Eve is looking to expand our fantastic team! We are searching for professional and hands-on Kitchen Assistants with excellent communication skills and a real passion for pubs and beer.

What you’ll get up to:

  • Performing all cleaning, washing and preparation duties required in kitchens 
  • Assisting Cooks with all necessary tasks to ensure the kitchen operations runs smoothly and efficiently
  • Properly cleaning and sanitising all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene.
  • Assisting the Cook with the preparation of meal ingredients, which includes washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruit, vegetables, poultry, and meat
  • Sweeping and mopping the kitchen floors as well as wiping down kitchen walls
  • Assisting with the unloading of delivered food supplies and inventory control 
  • Promptly transferring meal ingredients from storage areas to the kitchen as per the Cook’s instructions

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in a kitchen (not essential)
  • Ability stand for extended periods

Exceptional hygiene standards

  • Ability to follow instructions and work within a team 
  • Excellent organisational, communication and time management skills
  • Availability and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
